Change mobile number in Emirates ID records through one official service. ICP calls it Data Update, and it covers your phone number, email and address. You do it online from your own account, and no new card is printed. This guide shows the steps, the cost and what to do when other details change.

A new SIM is a small change, but it breaks a lot. The number ICP holds for you receives its one-time passwords and service alerts. If that number is dead, the messages go nowhere.
You can change mobile number in Emirates ID records in a few minutes, as long as you use the right service. Phone, email and address go through Data Update. Details printed on the card, such as your name, photo or profession, go through a different service that issues a new card. Both are explained below, with facts taken from ICP’s own service pages and u.ae. Where ICP is silent, we say so.

What Does It Mean to Change Mobile Number in Emirates ID?
Your mobile number is not printed on the card. It sits in your file with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security. Changing it means replacing the number in that file. ICP describes Data Update as a service for “non-essential data, namely phone number, email and address”.

💡 Tip: You can update your phone number, email and address in the same Data Update request. ICP only asks that at least one of the three is changed.
Methods to Change Mobile Number in Emirates ID
There are 2 methods by which you can update your number officially: the ICP Smart Services website and the UAEICP app. ICP’s service page lists only these two channels. A typing centre is a third, assisted route, where staff file the same online request for you.

So, the UAEICP app is the best method because your UAE Pass approval and the SMS code arrive on the same phone you are holding. Use the website when you have a long address to type.
⚠️ Warning: The old advice to “visit an ICP service centre” is out of date for this service. ICP’s page says Data Update is not offered at its public centres, except for visitors who hold visas. Residents and citizens do it from their own account.
Steps to Change Your Number on ICP Smart Services
To change mobile number in Emirates ID files, ICP lists four stages: submit the application, update the information, pay the fee, and the data is updated in its systems automatically. Here is how that looks on screen.
Step 1: Sign in with UAE Pass
Open ICP Smart Services and choose the UAE Pass login. Approve the request in your UAE Pass app.
Step 2: Open the Data Update service
Search for “Data Update” in the services list. You can also start from ICP’s Data Update service page and press the start button there.
Step 3: Enter the new mobile number
Your current details load from your account. Replace the old number with the new one. Correct your email and address in the same form if they changed.
Step 4: Confirm and review
UAE guides describe a one-time password sent to the new number at this point, so keep the SIM in your phone. Then read every field once more.
Step 5: Pay the fee and save the receipt
Pay by card on the payment screen. ICP states that the data is then updated automatically. Save the receipt or the request number as a PDF.

The app follows the same service, with the same sign-in. u.ae confirms the app is available on Apple and Google stores.

⚠️ Warning: ICP warns about fake calls and counterfeit websites that misuse its name and logo. Download the app from the official store only, and never read a one-time password to a caller.
Updating a Family Member’s Details
ICP’s conditions say the data is updated through the customer’s personal account. Family members are updated through the account of the sponsor or the head of the family.
How Much Does It Cost to Change Mobile Number in Emirates ID?
Here we have to be careful. When we read ICP’s Data Update page in October 2026, it showed no fee amount. Several UAE guides that cite the same page give a smart service fee of AED 50. Treat that as a guide figure, and trust the amount on the payment screen.

💡 Tip: One payment covers every contact field you change in that request. Fix your email and address together with the number instead of paying again later.

Name, photo, passport and profession are different. They are printed on the card or stored in the chip, so a change means a new card. For residents, ICP handles this through “Amendment of Residency Permit Data”.

After the Update: Other Records to Fix
When you change mobile number in Emirates ID records, ICP’s pages do not say the new number reaches anyone else. Assume it does not. Other organisations keep their own copy, and each one must be told.
