Emirates ID Status Check Online: ICP Official Steps 2026

Emirates ID status check takes about a minute on the official ICP page. Enter your PRAN or Emirates ID number, press Check Application Status, and you see where your card is. It is free, and you do not need to log in.

We are not ICP or any UAE government body. We never ask for your ID number. The check happens only on ICP’s own website.

An Emirates ID status check matters whether you are a new resident waiting for a first card, an expat renewing, or someone replacing a lost one. The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security runs the service, and it covers new, renewal and replacement applications.

This guide gives you the official link, the exact number to type, the meaning of each status, the renewal fees and late fine for 2026, and clear fixes when the page shows nothing. Every figure comes from ICP or u.ae, and we say so when an official source is silent.

What Is an Emirates ID Status Check?

An Emirates ID status check is a free online lookup that shows the stage of your card application, from review to printing and delivery. You run it on ICP’s ID Card Status page with one number, and the answer appears on screen.

  • Avoid a late fine. You see early if a renewal has stalled.
  • Plan your delivery. You know when the courier is on the way.
  • Catch a returned application. You fix a missing document before days are lost.
  • Prove progress. A screenshot helps with a bank, an employer or a landlord.

New to the card itself? Start with our guide to what the Emirates ID is.

Emirates ID Status Check Methods in 2026

There are 4 methods by which you can run an Emirates ID status check. Two are online and two put you in touch with ICP.

Online methods

  • ICP website: the ID Card Status page on icp.gov.ae. No login.
  • UAEICP app: ICP’s mobile app, on Apple and Google platforms.

Contact methods

  • ICP contact centre and live chat: 600522222, or +971 600522222 from abroad.
  • Email: [email protected], best for follow-ups.

How to Do an Emirates ID Status Check on the ICP Website

This is the fastest route. You need a browser and your number, nothing else.

Step 1: Open the official page

Type icp.gov.ae/en/id-card-status into your browser yourself. The page title reads “ID Card Status”.

Step 2: Enter your number

You see one field labelled PRAN/IDN/Request Number. Enter your application number (PRAN), or your Emirates ID number if you applied for a renewal or a replacement. Type it exactly as printed (no spaces, unless the form shows dashes).

Step 3: Press Check Application Status

Submit the form. The page shows the current stage of your application.

Step 4: Read and save the result

Take a screenshot. If you call ICP later, the agent will ask what the page showed.

💡 Tip: Bookmark the page after your first visit. You will not have to search for it again, and you avoid look-alike sites.

You can also reach the page from the ICP homepage. Press the search icon, type “ID Card Status” and open the result.

⚠️ Warning: ICP warns that fake calls and counterfeit websites misuse its name and logo to steal personal data. It has also said that it gives no office or company the right to fast-track its services. Never pay anyone to “speed up” a card.

Emirates ID Status Check on the UAEICP App

The UAEICP app is ICP’s official app. u.ae lists it on Apple and Google platforms, and it works with UAE Pass. Install it only from your phone’s official store, sign in, open the Emirates ID services and follow the on-screen steps.

The app suits you if you also renew or update details from your phone. Our UAEICP app guide walks through the install.

💡 Tip: Check the publisher name before you install. Several apps use similar names and are not ICP’s.

Emirates ID Status Check by Phone, Live Chat or Email

Call 600522222 inside the UAE or +971 600522222 from abroad. ICP’s contact page lists working hours from 7:30 to 15:30. You can also open the live chat on ICP’s support page, or write to [email protected] with your full name, passport number and application number.

A little more detail (so it never fails): keep your passport and receipt beside you, and note the date and the agent’s reply.

💡 Tip: Use the website first and the phone second. The page gives you a result you can screenshot, and the agent can then explain it.

So, the ICP website is the best method for a first Emirates ID status check. It is free, instant and needs no account.

What Is a PRAN and Where Do You Find It?

PRAN is your application number. ICP’s own page calls it “Application Number (PRAN)”. You get it when you submit your application, on the receipt and in the SMS that follows.

It is not your Emirates ID number. Some websites describe the PRAN as a 15-digit code that starts with 784, but that is the format of the ID number printed on the card. Mixing the two is the most common reason a check fails.

💡 Tip: Search your SMS inbox for “ICP” or “application”. The number is usually in the first message you received after applying.

Which Number Should You Enter?

Use this table to choose. Everything goes into the same single field on ICP’s page.

The single PRAN/IDN/Request Number field on the ICP status page
Your situationNumber to useWhere you find it
New Emirates ID applicationApplication number (PRAN)Receipt and SMS
RenewalEmirates ID number, or PRANFront of your card, or receipt
Replacement (lost or damaged)Emirates ID number, or PRANOld card copy, or receipt
Another ICP requestRequest numberICP SMS or service receipt

According to u.ae, the Emirates ID number has 15 digits and is unique to you. It stays the same when you renew.

⚠️ Warning: ICP’s status page does not list passport number as an input. If a site asks for your passport and ID details to “check status”, close it.

What Each Emirates ID Status Means

ICP does not publish a fixed list of status names. The stages below are the ones applicants most often report, with the next step for each. If your screen uses different words, follow the message on ICP’s site.

Status (commonly shown)What it meansWhat you do
Under processICP is reviewing your applicationWait. Check again in a few working days
Under printing / printedYour card is being made, or is readyWatch for the SMS or courier message
DispatchedThe card is with the courierKeep your phone on and someone at the address
Delivered / ready for collectionThe card has arrived or awaits pickupCollect it with your passport
Returned / more information neededICP needs a document or a correctionFollow the message, or call ICP

A “returned” status is not a rejection. It means ICP wants a correction, for example a clearer photo or a missing document. Fix the item named in the message and the application moves again. A true rejection comes with a reason, and you can ask ICP’s contact centre what to do next.

💡 Tip: Statuses can sit on one stage for a few days and then jump two stages at once. That is normal, so judge progress over a week, not an hour.

How Long Does an Emirates ID Take?

ICP’s renewal service page lists a standard completion time of 5 days. That figure is a service target for renewals, not a promise for every case, and ICP gives no guaranteed time for new applications. Biometrics, medical results and delivery can each add days.

For a realistic picture after your fingerprints are taken, read how long an Emirates ID takes after biometrics.

There is a faster route for some people. u.ae lists a 24-hour urgent service for UAE nationals and GCC residents, and ICP’s renewal page prices the urgent option at AED 150, collected from an ICP service centre.

💡 Tip: If you are an expat resident, do not plan around the 24-hour service. u.ae limits it to nationals and GCC residents.

Emirates ID Validity and Renewal Fees in 2026

These are the renewal fees and validity periods shown on ICP’s renewal service page. Fees for a first card or a replacement can differ, so confirm them on ICP before you pay.

WhoValidityRenewal feeUrgent option
UAE national under 215 yearsAED 100AED 150 extra, at service centres
UAE national aged 21 or over10 yearsAED 200AED 150 extra, at service centres
GCC national5 yearsAED 100 + AED 100 smart application feeAED 150 extra, at service centres
Resident (expat)Matches your residence visaAED 100 per year of residence + AED 100 smart application feeSee ICP

How much is the Emirates ID for 2 years? By ICP’s renewal formula, a resident pays AED 100 for each year plus the AED 100 application fee, which comes to AED 300. Typing-centre and delivery charges, where they apply, are extra.

When to Renew and the Late Fine

u.ae says residents can renew from six months before expiry. UAE nationals now have a longer window. ICP announced that, from 14 July 2026, nationals can renew up to one year before expiry, and can renew passport and Emirates ID together when the dates line up.

Miss the deadline and it costs money. u.ae states that if you renew more than one month after expiry, a late fee of AED 20 per day applies, up to a maximum of AED 1,000.

  • Report a lost card within 7 days (u.ae).
  • Update changed personal details within one month (u.ae).

Steps are in our Emirates ID renewal guide. For a damaged, lost or stolen card, see how to replace your Emirates ID. For other fines, use our Emirates ID fine check guide.

⚠️ Warning: Old articles still mention overstay amnesties and fine waivers. The 2026 waiver window has ended, so do not rely on it.

Is Your Emirates ID Your Visa?

No. The Emirates ID is your identity card. Your residence visa is a separate permit with its own status check. Many people search for one when they need the other.

How You Receive Your Card: Delivery and Collection

ICP’s service page says a standard card is delivered through the authorised courier. An urgent card is collected from an ICP service centre.

ICP customer service centre building in the UAE
  • Keep your UAE mobile number active. Delivery messages go to the number on file.
  • Save any tracking reference in the SMS.
  • Carry your passport when you collect a card in person.

ICP does not publish a rule for missed deliveries, so use the contact details in the courier’s message. If your number changed after you applied, see how to change your mobile number on your Emirates ID.

Digital Emirates ID: Can You Use It While You Wait?

ICP says that once a card is issued, you can view its electronic version in the UAEICP app, and use your digital identity through UAE Pass. That helps when the plastic card is still in transit. Acceptance depends on the organisation you deal with, so ask before you rely on it.

ICP has also told the Federal National Council that it tested a facial-recognition digital ID, to be rolled out in phases. Physical cards have not been abolished. Our Emirates ID download guide shows how to get the e-version.

Emirates ID Status Not Showing? 6 Fixes

When an Emirates ID status check returns nothing, ICP’s page shows only a general error. Work through these causes in order.

1. Record not found

Check the number type first. A PRAN and an ID number are different, and a new application can take time to appear.

2. Wrong digits

Retype the number from the receipt instead of pasting it. One extra space breaks the search.

3. Application returned

ICP may need a clearer photo or a document. Read the SMS or email, fix the item, and resubmit through the same channel.

4. Status stuck for weeks

Call 600522222 and quote your application number. Ask the agent what is pending.

5. Website or app not loading

Try again later, switch browser, or use the other method.

6. A hold somewhere else

An unfinished medical or insurance step can delay the card. See how to check medical insurance status with your Emirates ID.

Tips for a Smooth Emirates ID Status Check

  • Type the address yourself. Official pages sit on icp.gov.ae.
  • Keep your receipt. It holds your PRAN and any request number.
  • Never share an OTP. ICP does not ask for it by phone or SMS.
  • Screenshot every result. It gives ICP’s agent something exact to work from.
  • Check once a day. Statuses rarely change hour to hour.
  • Match the number to the service. PRAN for a new card, ID number for a renewal.
  • Renew early. Residents can start six months before expiry.
  • Update your phone number first. Delivery messages go to the number on file.
  • Link the new card afterwards. See how to update your Emirates ID in Etisalat.

ICP or ICA: Is It the Same Authority?

Yes. ICP’s overview page says the body began in 2004 as the Emirates Identity Authority, and a 2017 federal decree-law renamed it the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA). Today it is the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, at icp.gov.ae. Links to the older ica.gov.ae or eida.gov.ae addresses are out of date.
